 Venture Pitch

Reflection

While my experience in the area of assessment and testing at higher education has been the resource for the idea of my venture pitch, the knowledge gained at ETEC 522 has immensely supported me in structuring this pitch.

I understand there is scope to improve, yet, I am pleased that I tapped into my strength of creatively shaping this idea. I made good use of the learning resources at ETEC 522: Deconstructing a Pitch (David Vogt) and other content suggested by David Vogt. Additionally, ‘How to give the perfect pitch with TED X Speech Coach David Beckett’ on YouTube, provided further insights.

As I reflect, I feel the strong points of my pitch are laying open the ‘pain and the problem’ and providing the ‘solution’. I do understand that the ‘market analysis’ part of it is not really strong. And the ‘ask and revenue’ might not strike realistic to the venture analysts. And if I had the time and means to present a mock visual of the TOP Edge platform, that could have better demonstrated the model. Over all, the experience of learning and building the pitch was really exciting though challenging.

After having my above pitches open in the Venture forum of ETEC 522 for a week, I am glad I have good number of reviews from my peers on this product. Most of them agree that the pitch is well crafted, clear, concise and conveys the idea well. And they do agree my strong point is the focus on the problem and solution. However, I have had few of them needing to know more about the 'competition' and 'differentiation'. I am glad I have had the opportunity to explain more on these aspects to them in the forum, outside the venture pitch. I appreciate and acknowledge the support of my peers and their constructive reviews. I would willingly accommodate their suggestions in my pitch.
